75,242 teaching positions for kindergarten/elementary, Junior High School (JSH), and Senior High School (SHS) are now available this Academic Year 2018-2019. This was approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) after the Department of Education’s (DepEd) request to address the inadequate number of teaching personnel in public schools across the country.

The FY 2018 Built-in Appropriations (New School Personnel Positions) will fund the salaries and other forms of compensation for the new positions. Only filled positions shall be covered by the DBM’s issuance of Special Allotment Release Order (SARO).

“The DBM has approved the creation of 75,252 teaching positions for kindergarten/elementary, junior high school, and senior high school for school year 2018-2019,” Diokno told reporters in a breakfast forum in Pasig City.

The corresponding Notice of Organization, Staffing and Compensation Action (NOSCA) shall be issued by the DBM Regional Offices and the DBM Organization, Position Classification and Compensation Bureau (OPCCB) direct to the DepEd- Division Offices for Kinder, Elementary, and SHS and to the DepEd- Implementing Units for JHS positions based on the deployment reports submitted by DepEd.

40,642 teachers are needed to fill in positions for kindergarten and elementary, while 34,244 are needed for Junior High School and 356 for Senior High Schools.

DepEd has been allocated a budget of Php553.31 billion this year, some Php10 billion higher than last year.
